Life in a Northern Town

Quick message to let you know how well the 'Life in a Northern Town' project is doing!

Peshkar had over 400 engagements with young people over 20 outreach sessions providing young people with digital media, journalistic and drama skills.

We completed a 6 day intensive summer project whereby participants created music, videos, light graffiti images, documentaries and theatre initiatives. The material produced was of such a high quality that we were asked to VJ for The Hypnotic Brass Ensemble... a challenge that our participants took to naturally!

We shared our achievements with the people of Oldham by taking over a shop for the day in the centre of Oldham completing interacting games with the public and our participants delivered editing and music making classes to members of the public.

We linked with Jason Singh and his team of musicians who sampled our documentaries to create innovative music inspired by Dovestones reservoir.

One of our grid films created was chosen for Bifurcaciones - a vimeo video channel for the latin-American urban-studies journal.

Get involved!

We will be conducting more skill development sessions with community groups over September/October, completing another weeks project beginning the week of 26th October and performaning a professional multi media, interactive, outdoor performance in the centre of Oldham inspired by our participants work during December.
